Download Event to Calendar

The Central North West section of the Institute of Measurement & Control Central will be holding its Annual Dinner at The Hilton Hotel, Manchester on Thursday 27th September 2018 and would be delighted if you and your guests attend.

Awards will be presented to students from University of Manchester and Liverpool John Moores University with Special Guests -

Rob Rouse (Winner of Channel 4’s “So You Think You’re Funny” and with appearances on 8 out of 10 Cats, Friday Night Project. He is currently playing Bottom in BBC’s Upstart Crow and presenting a Sunday morning BBC Radio Sheffield show)

&

Danielle George (Lecturer at University of Manchester, presenter of the 2014 Royal Institution Christmas Lectures & co-founder of The Manchester Recycled Robot Orchestra)

Drinks reception will be in the 1st floor bar from 6:15pm and dinner will be served in the adjacent Deansgate Suite from 7:30pm. The dress code is lounge suits or black tie.

At the start of the dinner there will be a few toasts, a short speech from Danielle George and the presentation of prizes to students from University of Manchester and Liverpool John Moores University.

The dinner will be a three-course meal followed by our guest speaker Rob Rouse. During the evening we will be selling raffle tickets for the prizes that have been donated by various companies and the official evening is scheduled to finish around 11pm with the 1st floor bar and the ground floor bar in the hotel remaining open until the early hours.

"Rob Rouse’s ‘Bottom’ received a warm welcome with viewers and critics alike on Elton’s keenly anticipated ‘Upstart Crow’ which first aired in the spring of 2016 and was voted ‘Best new sitcom’ on the British Comedy Guide in 2017. Rob is currently recording series three of the show, playing William Shakespeare’s manservant. You can also catch Rob each Sunday morning presenting his BBC Radio Sheffield show. One of comedy’s most lively, loveable and dynamic performers, Rob won Channel 4’s Prestigious So You Think You’re Funny competition at the Edinburgh Festival  way back in 1998. He’s one of our best comic storytellers, has performed all over the world and works long form narratives into hard-hitting, uncompromising hilarious tales filled with warmth and a sense of compassion for our collective human frailties. The Ex-Geography teacher has been described critically as “A born clown”, those who really know him may lovingly use the word ‘idiot’."

As a supporter of the annual dinner your company will get recognition on the night and in addition your logo or company name will be included in each mail that we send out to advertise each technical lecture – see the first page.
